Writing Prompt #3
In italics below is a writing prompt from 642 Tiny Things to Write About - I hope you enjoy reading my response and feel inspired to write your own response in the comments.
At a banquet in a foreign land, you are greeted as a guest of honor and served the traditional sheep's eyeball. Respectfully, you decline. You are then offered the sheep's tongue, instead. What's your excuse this time?
Oh my, I am honored to be offered the tongue. However, I must again decline. In my culture, eating the offered tongue takes away our ability to speak for ourselves. I know it is not your intention to try to take my ability to speak for myself, but some of our enemies have done this. Thus, we can only eat the tongue of an animal we have harvested ourselves. Only then can we truly speak what's on our tongues.
