Mixing business and pleasure
Usually, this adage is cautionary; however, in this case, my mixing business and pleasure is a good thing! I have recently started working with one of the greats (and I mean great in many ways) - Garrott Kuzzy, Minnesotan cross country ski Olympian and founder of Lumi Experiences, the premier cross country ski travel company. Garrott is great in the Olympic athlete sense, but he is also an absolutely great person. I recently reached out to Lumi Experiences through their contact page about working for them - a complete cold inquiry with hopes there would be something available. Lucky for me, Garrot responded and has generously created opportunities for me to flex my creative muscles in blog writing and website contributions.
Why Lumi Experiences, you might be asking? Well, as a Minnesotan myself, I grew up surrounded by snow about 6 months of the year and cross country (XC) skied to stay sane during the long winter months. I greatly enjoy the workout of XC skiing, but for me, the activity is also about the immersion in the winter wonderlandscape. Many places around the world have incredible XC skiing areas, and Lumi Experiences helps people experience skiing in those amazing spots. A true blending of passions for me!
The very first blog post I got to write for Lumi Experiences was on the topic of Štruklji (pronounced shtROO-klee), a rolled dough with a variety of fillings famous in Slovenia. I hope one day to visit Slovenia myself for skiing and štruklji!
